I am now making accident mats/sheets/layer. I’ve no idea what to class it under but here is the idea. After making my pull up cloth pants that are also washable and a parent friend who’s daughter has seemingly regressed back to wetting the bed after a year of being dry. My friend was constantly telling me how she was having to dry up her mattress after cleaning it when her daughter has an accident.
So I’ve made these pads that are 70x50cm (I will in future make them for bigger beds, but right now this size is perfect for a single bed or a toddler bed) they have a waterproof backing complete with a layer of terry towelling and a top layer of brushed cotton. So all nice and soft and noise free!
Simple place on child’s bed where their bum would end up being when sleeping then you can either put it under your child’s bottom sheet but bare in mind that should your child have an accident the top sheet would get wet but everything bellow the waterproof pad wouldn’t (saves your mattress!) or you can lay it on top of the bottom sheet and your child can lay directly on it.
I’ve tested these with two cups of water of which nothing came through.
For starters I’ll be making these in a pink, blue and white/neutral colour and the top brushed cotton layer will vary depending which colour you choose.
These pads are reusable and washable should they get spoiled. Wash as per usual then leave to dry naturally. Do not tumble dry as the waterproof backing will melt!
